Detroit staple of fried fish. First of all, CASH only. I am not sure how long this landmark been around, but I am glad this small business is still open. Big pieces of cod, fresh, hot, crunchy on the outside and soft and flaky on the inside. Reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because even though fish is great, It is supposed to be fish and chips, not fish and soggy fries. Chips are thicker cuts of potato and crispy. Still going back though, just because of the fish and time capsule environment.

This is one of the best places in the Detroit area to get fried fish. It's hand battered and made to order. The onion rings and clam chowder are also phenomenal and made in house. The interior is a time capsule from a by gone era.

This is a historic culinary gem. 75-years-old and a true step back in time. I have heard about Scotty Simpson's many times when people rave about their fish and chips. I was psyched to finally get the chance to go. The old-school vibe is amazing and the fish and chips are top-notch. This is everything a fish and chips place should be. I hope this place continues to thrive.

Scotty Simpson's is plain good with no frills and fuss. The family-owned business is a rare treat within a neighborhood that was probably bustling back in the day. The eatery has stood the test of time. The fried British-style battered fish is fresh and flaky inside with a super crunchy outside. The fries are also fresh and homemade. There are other items on the menu, but go for the fish & chips. You won't find better in the area.

If you want fish and chips this is THEE place to get them. Best in Detroit and the service is top notch. Harry has been running this place for longer than I can remember and it exactly what you would hope for. The decor is exactly what you want from an old school style chip joint. Go and get you a plate the next chance you get! **Bonus Tip** the Perch and Chips is EVEN better than the cod in my opinion.

OMGGGGGG! Amazing food and service! Sorry I didn't post pictures it I will next time we go. BF had fish-n-chips and I had baked Cod and it was a VERY BIG piece and it was amazing! The entire meal was EXCELLENT as well as the service. Do NOT let the location scare you. A* ALL AROUND! I'd give 100 stars if I could.

Called last week 45 minutes before closing. They answered and my order was superb! Fish, shrimp, and fries made my night.

The restaurant was in a great neighborhood when it opened....now, not so much! Crunchy batter and flaky fish! Best in Detroit! I get an extra piece of fish well done!

We had the most wonderful dinner here. I got the regular fish and chips. It comes with the most delicious fish, fries, coleslaw, and roll. I don't think you can get any better fish and chips ever in the whole metropolitan Detroit area. Service was very good and also entertaining! Can't wait to go back!

Loved it- the vibe the service and the food! Crispy light and flaky fish, stellar onion rings and the soup was great. I am a big fan of fish and chips and these did not disappoint. Brought cash as suggested and be prepared for dessert! We got a cheesecake and it was so wonderful and homemade too!
